We are supposed to have a worse winter than last year! And last year was terrible, we get alot of calves in the winter, we had one calf last year, that was born in the winter and both of its back hooves fell off, right below the declaws, it got frostbit and they fell off, her name was Pop-Tart, cuz she ate poptarts, we had to put her down though, cuz it would be painful for her to walk, stand, lay down and get up, and plus she would get heavier and her knees in the front would be under alot of stress. Anyways last year we had about 13 calves, that would of died if we wouldn't of brung them in from the cold, but some of them do die after we rescue them, cuz they are either to little or were in the cold too long.

We try to get them out of the cold asap. My dad, sister, and I take take the skidsteer and go in the pen, cuz somtimes the cow won't leave her calf, and when we get close enough to the calf we put them in the bucket then, in the truck, the heat don't work all that great in the truck, but we put them in the truck and I pet all the way home and try to keep them as warm as possible, then when we get home, they stay in a heated building, until winter is over, the temperature is around 60-70*F in the building, the calves that need the heat more are placed in the room with the heater, and they have a carpet to lay on, and if the calves are doing good they go in the half of the building, they still get heat though, I hope we get the pens put up cuz two of the atvs are in the other half of the building and the wagon with corn in in there and the bicycles are too, so yeah, hopefully we get it cleaned out before we start getting calves.

Well that is great to hear about putting them in a heated barn! I can picture a calf being put into one of those and you petting them with the mama running after it. But I am glad they are kept safe through winter.
